EI SKILL-BASED TRAINING WORKSHOPS
The Intelligent Approach to EI Training
Our approach to teaching EI is theory-driven and people-tested. Our training programs are based on the Mayer, Salovey, Caruso approach to EI. They have been delivered in various forms to a number of different professions and groups. These include individual and corporate clients from:
We can begin with an objective skills assessment via the MSCEIT. Next, we provide examples of the skills in action, assist people to develop their skills, and then teach them how to apply their skills.
The model we use – Identify, Use, Understand, Manage – is simple and serves as a template or what we call an Emotional Blueprint for learning. Workshop participants acquire insight into themselves, develop new skills, but most importantly, they acquire a process that they can use to help them address key issues and problems in their work life.
It is essential that participants are given intellectual support for every activity and component of EI, as well as an emotional experience to cement their learning. We also recognize that great training needs to be delivered with integrity. Every program we conduct begins with a statement of our ethical principles of Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure.
However, talking about action, and talking about emotion, is simply not enough. Interactive cases and exercises are critical to demonstrating the primacy and power of emotions in the workplace. We are able to customize some of the case studies to better reflect the work experiences and unique needs of your group.
Executive EI Briefing
The concept of an emotional intelligence is often greeted with skepticism by executives. And it should be! Our unique, ability-based approach to EI will withstand the questioning of the most analytical and logical of professionals.
EI training and development often begins with an executive briefing, either as a standalone meeting with an organizations’ key decision makers, or integrated into the agenda of other leadership meetings.
We are happy to supplement such briefings with scientific articles and books supporting our work.
Individual Development Programs
EI Assessment
The EI Assessment program offers clients the unique experience of taking our ability test of emotional intelligence and receiving personalized feedback on their results. The feedback process provides test takers with results and actions they can use to enhance or leverage their EI skills.
Each participant takes the MSCEIT on-line. We give you a web site address to send to your participants to walk them though this process. The assessment begins with an introduction to the test-taking experience, and concludes with a post-MSCEIT assessment.
We are also able to modify our MSCEIT Report to better reflect the needs of the particular client group. EI Assessment can be conducted remotely, or in person.
EI Coaching
Our EI Coaching program brings a highly individualized development process to your organization. It includes all the aspects of the EI Assessment program, and then adds follow-up coaching sessions, adaptive action planning and additional style testing customized to meet the needs of each individual. EI Coaching can be conducted remotely and/or in person.
Group and Team Development Programs
Introduction to EI
We provide an engaging, stimulating and practical program with concrete learning objectives. These are typically half-day programs and include several components (listed below).
Pre-Workshop Review of Needs: In order to provide you with the best possible program, we need to get some background information about your organization, the participants, and the objectives for this program. Our pre-workshop review gives us the data we need to better tailor the program to your unique needs.
Program Topics:
Experiential Introduction: A small group exercise that demonstrates the importance of emotion in decision-making and action.
Post-Workshop Support: Participants receive follow-up from us to reinforce what they learned during the session, and to provide supportive feedback on any aspect of their workshop experience.
Advanced EI Course
We build on the Introductory course to provide a more in-depth and effective learning experience for groups or intact teams. The advanced course is delivered over multiple sessions, and can be scheduled for half or full days, depending upon the needs of the organization.
Pre-Workshop Assessment: Each participant takes our unique and insightful ability test of EI, the MSCEIT, on-line (or optionally in a paper-and-pencil format). We give you a web site address to send to your participants to walk them though this process. The assessment begins with an introduction to the test-taking experience, and concludes with a post-MSCEIT assessment. This is a unique approach to MSCEIT assessment.
We can modify our MSCEIT Report to better reflect the needs of the particular client group, and we can create group, organization or team reports examining the profile of each group of test takers.
Program Topics:
Experiential Introduction: This exercise sets the tone for the in-depth course.
MSCEIT Overview: Describes the skills assessed by the MSCEIT, and what high or low scores might mean.
Emotional Blueprint: Presents a 4-step, structured approach to emotions and problem-solving through a case study. Participants build their own Emotional Blueprint action plan to help them immediately leverage the workshop experience in their own lives.
Emotionally-Intelligent Feedback: Participants use the Emotional Blueprint to get ready to receive and process feedback. They then receive their custom MSCEIT Report.
The Emotionally Intelligent Manager: We apply the four abilities of EI to the leadership role. Case studies, which can be customized to the needs of the participants, offer insight into how people can become effective leaders.
EI and Change: The process of change management is viewed through our Emotional Blueprint, giving participants a new way of viewing their role as change agents.
EI and Teams: Case studies and role plays demonstrate how emotions can guide and assist teams to be effective teams. We also touch upon the role of the team member in this section, outlining the EI steps by which a person can be an active and effective member of a team.
Post-Workshop Support: Participants receive follow-up from us to reinforce what they learned during the session, and to provide supportive feedback on any aspect of their assessment or workshop experiences.
